Before I Walk Away
Kimberley Hughes
There are some answers I need to know
Are you willing to be the man we need?
Will you really miss me when I go?
Did you truly love me or just the convenient things that I do?
Have you ever put me first or only thought of you?
Have you bothered to consider the times you ignore your phone?
That it left me feeling empty, unloved, and more alone?
Do you understand why I asked you
To help me become spiritually and emotionally unpoor?
Because your absence leaves me broken
You refuse to give me more
When I cry for your attention
Have you ever shed a tear?
Have you ever decided to let us heal and drop all that you fear?
Can you just hold my hand and let me trust you as you lead?
Am I more important than your destructive desires and your greed?
Are you willing to drop
Your precious secrets that keep you sick?
Are you sure that if you don’t
All that you hate about me, you won’t miss?
Do you really want to live in a cold garage alone?
While I continue on without you to grow our child and our home?
Have you asked yourself the reason your anger grows and cuts you deepest?
I hope you know the answers
Because if you don’t
You’ll have regrets
And wish you tried
Next time you read this.
