About the Project

Established in June 2023, the Survivor Anthology Project is a community-led project operating within Safe Passage. Our periodic publication—Survival & Beyond—features collections of stories and artwork in English and Spanish from survivors of domestic violence/relationship abuse.

There is no one way to experience domestic violence and relationship abuse. There are survivors of every age, gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, ability, religion, and background. Each survivor’s story is unique, and one goal of this project is to highlight that fact.

If you have endured emotional, verbal, financial, technological, sexual, reproductive, spiritual, cultural, or physical abuse, we invite you to share your story with us. Whether you’re just beginning to acknowledge the impact of your experiences or have been on your healing journey for decades, your voice matters. Even if you haven’t yet felt comfortable identifying as a “survivor,” we want to hear from you.

If you think this anthology is for you, it is.

About the Anthology Team

We are a group of Safe Passage volunteers and staff who have come together to create this project. Some of us are survivors; others are not. We have different backgrounds and experiences, but we are all committed to this project as a way of uplifting stories that hardly get shared.

Issue 4 Coming Summer 2027!

Thank you to all who submitted work for Issue 4 of Survival & Beyond! This new issue explores the theme of “home.”

"Home" serves as a lens for examining a concept, a sensation, and a place we’ve all uniquely experienced. The theme of “home” can be interpreted as a physical structure, a person, a mental or emotional state, a feeling of belonging, or displacement, and so much more.

Issue 4 is anticipated out in summer 2027. Read the other issues now!
